Let’s say you’re getting a tattoo inked in a prominent place. What does it look like? April 12, 2017

It would depend on the location.  If it was an arm tattoo, it would be a flower in a tangle of green flowerless plants.  Likely the same if it was on my leg.  If it was on my torso, front or back, it would be a single speck.  Yuck, no tattoos on the torso.

When was the last time you made love so spontaneously you couldn’t have predicted it 20 minutes before? What attitudes lead to such surprises and what attitudes prevent them from happening? April 11, 2017

The last time would be the first time. Also, I’m a virgin so chances of that happening are unlikely.  I guess lust leads to those attitudes and the chances of going to jail prevent spontaneous sex from occurring more often.

Do you believe in ghosts or evil spirits? Would you be willing to spend a night alone in a remote house that is supposedly haunted? April 10, 2017

I do believe in ghosts and evil spirits.  When I was around nine or ten years old, my dad appeared as a ghost while I was in bed one night.  The weird part is he is still alive so I am not sure how he was able to appear as a ghost but he did.  He isn’t evil but that definitely was him…as a ghost.

I am not knowingly going to spend a night alone in a remote house that is supposedly haunted.  You’re never too young for a heart attack.

I originally wrote this on 1/1/2003. Eerily, it still applies. (more…)

At the beginning of a relationship, do you trust your new partner unless there is something specific to make you do otherwise, or do you withhold your trust until he or she has earned it? December 24, 2016

My approach to any relationship is to trust a person upfront because I believe people innately are decent.  If it turns out they are not, my trust will quickly be lost and I can’t remember if there has ever been an instance when it has been earned back.

For a person you loved deeply, would you be willing to move to a distant country knowing there would be little chance of seeing your friends or family again? December 22, 2016

I would be more concerned about a change in economics than a change in social relationships. I’d move if I knew the same or better economic opportunities existed in this far away land even though my family and friends would not. I wouldn’t be totally alone either since I’d be with the woman I loved. If the situation changed and I would have to give up the one I loved for a better economic opportunity locally, I would do that too. I’m most comfortable in knowing that I can take care of myself. Happiness maybe sacrificed however, I’m single and never been involved in a serious relationship so it is hard to miss a non-existent experience.

If you were determining who could immigrate here, would you let in those you thought would contribute the most to our country or those most in need of refuge? December 20, 2016

The choices describe the same group of people, people in most need of refuge are likely those who will work the hardest to contribute the most. Gratitude and new opportunity will trump feelings of entitlement and complacency.

If tomorrow you found out that you and your partner just conceived a child, how would you react? How do you think it might change your relationship. December 19, 2016

I’d be alarmed because learning I may soon be a father is surprising enough, but learning I also have a partner too would absolute floor me. My partner’s and I relationship would change in that since I was unaware she existed, our relationship would develop to something beyond being strangers to one another.
